Mumbai: builder in Mumbai was caught in a cheating case worth Rs 22 Crore. Economic offences wing is looking into this matter and charges of cheating and breach of trust has been registered against the real estate firm. Bharat Amar Singh who had booked a flat in Kul Court at Sundar nagar in Kalina filed a complaint against Mumbai Realty firm Kumar developers who promised to hand over the possesion in the year 2011 but till date no progress has been made. The case was given to Economic offences wing as the cheating amount is above Rs 3 Crore.

The culrpits- Pranay Jain, Lalit Kumar and Shefali Sancheti have booked under IPC Section 406 (Criminal breach of trust) 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servent) 420 (Cheating and dishonesty) and section 120B (Criminal conspiracy).

According to an EOW official, apart from cheating the new buyers, the developers have also not paid to the old buyers who moved out of the project when the building was pulled down. According to the official, more than 13 buyers have registered the complaint against the developer.
